The Professor #3 – Druid

P003 - Druid LongIn this week’s ‘The Professor’, we will be looking at the Druid class. By starting with the fundamentals, players will then have a better understanding of Hearthstone before we move into more advanced territory.

‘Choose One’ cards are only available to the Druid class; they allow the player to choose one of two options when playing them, allowing the Druid to be flexible in handling different situations.

Hero Power

  • Shapeshift: +1 Attack this turn and +1 Armor

The Druid is similar to the Warrior in the sense that it can use its Hero Power to mitigate some damage while clearing the board of opponent minions; it is convenient as it can be used both offensively and defensively.

Shapeshifting

  • Bite
  • Claw
  • Savagery

Using the Druid himself as the focal point of attack, the Shapeshifting path allows the Druid to pick off minions or opponent champions while maintaining his health! Take note though, the Druid can only attack once per turn!

Minion Control

  • Mark of Nature
  • Force of Nature
  • Power of the Wild

Using cards to either buff your own minions or summon more of them, this path allows the Druid to maintain board control. Added with the ‘Choose One’ nature of some of them, it brings in more versatility into the strategies the Druid wishes to implement.

Spells

  • Nourish
  • Innervate
  • Wrath

These path provides a lot of combinations, which the Druid can implement to sweep the house! They provide a lot of control; getting some spell damage minions to boost their firepower is definitely a plus! Some of them also provide great crystal growths; minions or cards can be played at two times the rate of your opponents, giving the Druid an immense lead easily!

The Druid is a class that provides strong board control with its ability to produce minions or clear waves at lightning-speed; its versatility and ‘Choose One’ cards also gives him immense possibilities in the usage of his hand! Be warned, though; it is not an easy class to master! A good Druid can easily thump most players while the same cannot be said for a weak one.
