Techniques Training #5 – Hand Control

In this week of ‘Techniques Training’, we will be looking at a sick concept; making your opponent’s cards burn out from a full hand size!

It is a pretty unique way of playing, as your aim is to force your opponent to hit his hand size limit of 10 cards. When it is his turn to draw, the drawn card will be destroyed instantly, potentially removing an important component of his strategy. It is also risky, as with 10 cards, your opponent has more options to prepare a counter-strategy instantly.

There are a couple of cards that will come in handy for this concept; Coldlight Oracle, Lonewalker Cho, and the like.

Coldlight Oracle

  • Type: Minion
  • Class: Any
  • Cost: 3
  • Ability: Battlecry: Each player draws 2 cards.

Lonewalker Cho

  • Type: Minion
  • Class: Any
  • Cost: 2
  • Ability: Whenever a player casts a spell, put a copy into the other player’s hand.

Sap

  • Type: Spell
  • Class: Rogue
  • Cost: 2
  • Ability: Return an enemy minion to its owner’s hand.

All these are probably questionable decks that you will not construct into your deck, but do not forget the aim; it is to bust the opponent’s hand size. Look at the opponent go bonkers when you Sap his Ysera when he has a full hand size; it will disintegrate!

With Faceless Manipulator, you can even copy Lonewalker Cho for double the fun! Tip: Lonewalker Cho can tell you what secrets your opponents play!

That will be it for this week’s ‘Techniques Training’; let us know in the comments below on what you think about this week’s technique, and what we should highlight in the future!
