Hearthstone Update: Upcoming Changes

Patch LongBlizzard Entertainment has recently announced upcoming changes to Hearthstone!

After Season 1 of Closed Beta Testing, Blizzard will be making their last set of balance changes. Once they go live, there will be minimal card changes, and under necessary circumstances.

10 cards will be changed; Unleash the HoundsSylvanas WindrunnerBlood ImpDefender of ArgusPyroblastDark Iron DwarfAbusive SergeantWarsong CommanderCharge and Novice Engineer!

  • Unleash the Hounds
    • Mana cost now 2 (from 4)
    • Give hunters their own form of AoE
    • Provides synergy with beast cards
    • Old cost prohibitive
  • Sylvanas Windrunner
    • Mana cost now 6 (from 5)
    • Too powerful compared to other 5-cost cards
    • Provide more variety in deck-building
  • Blood Imp
    • Now a 0/1 (from 1/1)
    • Reads: Stealth: At the end of your turn, give another random friendly minion +1 Health
    • Warlock rush deck was too strong (Three strong one-cost minions)
  • Defender of Argus
    • Now a 2/3 (from 3/3)
    • Automatically included due to its value
    • Provide more variety in deck-building
  • Pyroblast
    • Mana cost now 10 (from 8)
    • Mages need to be more interactive than playing a double Pyroblast combo
  • Dark Iron Dwarf
    • Buff lasts until the end of the turn
    • Reduce overall power
    • Additional versatility
  • Abusive Sergeant
    • Reads: Battlecry: Give a minion +2 until end of turn
    • Additional versatility
  • Warsong Commander
    • Reworked
    • Reads: Whenever you play a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge
  • Charge (Spell)
    • Reworked
    • Costs 3 mana (from 0)
    • Reads: Give a friendly minion +2 Attack and Charge
  • Novice Engineer
    • Now a 1/1 (from 1/2)
    • Automatically included due to its value
    • Provide more variety in deck-building

Expert cards that are being changed can be disenchanted for their full cost for a limited time when the patch goes live!

In our opinion, these changes will nerf the Warlock Rush, Warrior OTK Giants decks and strong neutral cards (just like the Argent Commander and Shattered Sun Cleric in the previous patch), and also bring more versatility in deck-building.
